Roses and Thorns

When I finally reached Whitewater High School and saw the scoreboard in the middle of the first quarter, I became quite nervous. Trailing 13-7 at halftime, we all knew something had to be done. Our team really handled business in the second half of the game scoring tow more touchdowns and then defensively letting no one in the end zone. Our student section was incredibly supportive as were all our fans who came out. Roses to kicking off this years football season to a phenomenal start and a win for the Cougars 21-13.

Am I the only one shocked that the first half of the nine weeks is up and progress reports are on the way home? Thorns to my last high school year slipping by so quickly, but a reminder to everyone to buckle down and keep those grades high.

Saturday, September 1st was Market Day in Newnan. Along with many booths of crafts were a Saint Jude's Hospital booth and a booth to aid foster children. The charitable nature of our local citizens and their willingness to devote their time so selflessly deserves a rose this week.

We are constantly hearing of the water fines we will receive for drenching our gardens or washing our cars. Do these authorities realize thirty-three percent of it is lost through county leaks? We are losing approximately two million gallons a day. Some one please put a plug in our own little Hoover Dam. This leak is quite the thorn.
