Hero of the Week

A brave restaurant employee named Hesham Fanmy saved a woman's life by pulling her out of her crushed car moments before the car burst into flames. Witnesses told the authorities that a Honda Pilot ran a red light at the intersection of 31st and Broadway in Bayonne, New Jersey, and hit a smaller car driven by an elderly woman. The smaller car came to rest after crashing into a street lamp. Before anyone could make sense out of what had happened, the street lamp fell on top of the small car. That is when Hesham Fanmy came to the woman's rescue. "His initial reaction was to go out and grab the lady out of the car," Lee Bertos, a witness, said, "and the moment he took the lady out of the car, the car caught on fire."

The woman's name could not be released, and the police said a report on this accident was not available. Bertos recalled that everyone seemed to be fine after the incident, but the woman had to be taken to Bayonne Medical Center.
