Meet Mr. Rhodes

Students who attended Evans Middle School might remember Mr. Rhodes as a sixth grade science teacher. This year Mr. Rhodes joins Newnan High School as an administrator and assistant principal. Of the many great things Mr. Rhodes said about NHS, one was "The best thing about Newnan High is the kindness of both the faculty and the students." He also said, "The best thing about being an administrator is the fact that I am able to impact the lives of many students for the best. However, there are those individuals who still make poor decisions."

Mr. Rhodes holds an undergraduate degree in middle grades education, which he earned at LaGrange College. He also has a masters degree in middle grades education from the State University of West Georgia and an Educational Specialist in Leadership from Troy University. When asked why he wanted to become a teacher, Mr. Rhodes replied, "I decided to teach mainly because I like making a difference in the lives of young people."

When Mr. Rhodes was a high school student, he spent his time "mainly working and studying." Mr. Rhodes says high school is different now than when he was a student. "The school environment today is more challenging than it was when I graduated. However, the opportunity to help students is far greater than it has ever been."

Outside of school, Mr. Rhodes enjoys going to church and spending time with his children. "I am inspired by my faith in God, and I have a close relationship with both friends and family." He says his family "is large. I have three children. Two of them are in middle school, and one graduated from Newnan High School in 2004. I have many cousins and nephews who live in the Newnan area."

Newnan High School is honored to have Mr. Rhodes as one of the leaders of our great school. The Cougar Chronicles wished all the best to Mr. Rhodes and his family!
