Clean Water
Maude Barlow, a Canadian author and activist, has been working diligently on a global legislation to protect people who are at risk from being denied one of Earth's most vital elements, water.
In her latest book, Blue Covenant: the Global Water Crisis and the Coming Battle for the Right to Water, Barlow proposes a solution to create a water-just world. She calls for a UN treaty that states that water is a human right. In her speech, Barlow highlights the injustice that, although half the world uses all the fresh water it wants, one child dies every eight seconds from contaminated water in underdeveloped parts of the world. Also, she stresses the moral and ecological imperative that the people need to change the course of things.
