Gene Therapy Takes a Step Forward
Doctors at Stanford University announced on April 27, 2008 that gene therapy has been used to cure blindness in patients with Leber's Congenital Amaurosis. This disease begins reducing one's eye sight at birth leaving that person blind in his twenties. This discovery is a huge advancement for gene therapy research. Many researchers and scientists now believe that gene therapy is a medicine of the future. This test has opened a new door for gene therapy research everywhere.
