Roses and Thorns
Georgia Cities Week Art Contest is just another event to add to the long list of bragging rights for the Cougars. This year's theme was "Living It Up Downtown." All winners and honorable mentions came from Newnan High School. Anna Hobbs took first place followed by Lydia Ozier in second and Abby Clements and Tabitha Nalley both receiving honorable mention. These girls were granted U.S. Savings Bonds in recognition of their accomplishment. Roses to the creativity and skill of our Cougars.
Those few hours of extra sleep are quite precious to all of us - especially the seniors. Although we are all super pumped to graduate, the moans and groans were endless when we heard about getting up and arriving fifteen minutes early to bake in the sun for a few hours. We were lectured on proper attire and proper behavior, but the main complaint on everyone's mind was the early mandated arrival. Thorns to the loss of sleep and terrible parking situation the morning of class of '08 photos.
First Baptist Church in downtown Newnan is offering a Baccalaureate Service for this year's graduating class. Senior will be asked - but not required - to attend Sunday morning, May 18 and are encouraged to bring their families. This is a great opportunity for students to come together with the community in a time for recognition of accomplishment and ceremony. Roses, and thanks, to First Baptist.
You hear the sniffles and feel the stuffiness in your head. A pollen count of 430 is enough to send all of metro Atlanta running to the drug store for allergy medicine. Thorns to the oak, the sycamore and pine for the layer of yellow torturing so many.
