Kite Powered Cargo Ship

A large kite-like sail flew out in front of the MS Beluga SkySails as she set out on her voyage from Germany to Venezuela. The kite sail cuts fuel costs for the cargo ship by nearly $1,500 a day.

The sail flies between 350 to 1,000 feet in the air, and the technology can be applied to nearly all types of cargo ships. This invention is a great thing for the twenty-first century not only because people can make a huge savings in fuel, but also because they are cutting carbon emissions by up to 35 percent.
