Roses and Thorns

Mother nature is listening to the request of the Cougar Chronicles. After a weekend full of dark clouds of rain, the Newnan High campus was clear of rain throughout the entire school week. Even though cool breezes still flew around the school, not a single drop of rain fell from the sky. Roses to the mother nature for keeping the sky clear last week.

Taking club pictures, as many students saw, can be a different activity. Even though each club's picture session is set for a certain time, there is always a small group of students who arrive for the session late. Roses to Mrs. Landreth for doing an excellent job coordinating the session schedule for the 2009-2010 school year.

No one enjoys working in a group when every member does not participate equally. When one member of the group does not put any effort into the project, the rest of the group members have to take up the slack. Thorns to the group members who do not participate in group projects.

The Angels House is organizing a Run of Angels Road Race/Walk on February sixth. They are inviting all students, teachers, and principles to form teams and walk in the race. Anyone can register online at theangelshouse.org. Roses to all who plan to participate.

Every year the school and drama department put on a senior play. However, the play usually includes more underclassmen than seniors. Whether it is because seniors do not try out or because they do not get the parts, the senior play should have more senior actors. Thorns to having fewer seniors in the SENIOR play.

Although Newnan High raised a little over one thousand dollars for the Haiti fundraiser, this total comes no where near the Can-A-Thon total. The small total could be due to students not having money, students not being informed, or the lack of competition and prizes for motivation. Thorns to students who could have participated in the fundraiser but did not.
