Red Cross Issues Appeal for Blood
The Red Cross in Georgia is desperately in need of type O negative and B negative blood. the blood supply has drastically dropped in January throughout the whole Southern Region, causing the supply to be at emergency levels. Although these two blood tpes are needed the most, donors with all blood types are encouraged to give.
Each day, the Red Cross needs to obtain 1,200 units of blood for patients and hospitals in the Southern Region. Type O negative donors are urged to make appointments as soon as possible to keep the blook supply from falling even further.
Donors can make appointments to give by calling 1-800-GIVE-LIFE. This past Thursday there was a community blood drive at the Newnan First Methodist Church. there will be another blood drive in March at the Asa Powell, Sr. Expo Center on Temple Avenue in Newnan.
