Adoption- Steve and Karen Barker

As most readers know, Steve Barker and wife, Karen, have an adopted son, Cade. This family addition is a major decision for most people. Adopting internationally born babies can be quite a challenge, too. There is up to 12 to 18 months wait for a child.

Mrs. Barker is the principal at Arnco Sargent and states, "We wanted to highlight another culture in our family." They had to provide much information that is required to adopt. Cade came into the family when he was 8 months old; he is 6 years now. Lately, a sister named Lily Glen joined her brother with the Barkers.

The Barkers feel strongly about making sure the children know their culture and traditional holidays. Mrs. Barker says her favorite quote is headlined across the website stating, "He may not have my eyes, or my hair color, but he definitely has my heart."
