Roses and Thorns

Over the course of the last few weeks, both Mr. and Mrs. Britt have not been at Newnan High School. Coach Britt had to endure a bypass procedure on his heart. Students were all very worried, and prayers were constant. Even though these teachers are both very strong souls, bypass surgery is a very serious surgery, and Coach Britt's condition was no exception. However, after a few weeks of recovery, he has discovered a new found energy, and Mrs. Britt has discovered a new sense of security. All students are looking forward to his speedy return and are glad to have his wonderful wife and our stupendous teacher back. Roses to the health, happiness, and quick return of Coach Britt.

It is undeniable we are coming into a health conscious age. Everything from scary labels at McDonald's, baked rather than fried foods and trans fat free is locatable on the shelves but will this trend come at such a steep price? Newnan High charges a dollar and twenty five cents for a vitamin water less than half the size of all the other drinks offered on campus. If made easily accessible, students would make healthier choices. Thorns for expensive Vitamin Water.

All of the Newnan travelers have seen the massive construction off of Greenville Street for the new amphitheater and wondered, "Will that ever be done?" It looks as if an end has finally come, and the park is beautiful. The fountain is lit after dark and is definitely a public benefit. When the amphitheater will really shine is after the cold weather fades and the green grass is rejuvenated. Residents are very pleased with the addition. Roses to Greenville Park and its completion.

When someone thinks of a middle school age child, he or she thinks rowdy, rambunctious and playful. Rarely are drugs or adult criminal behavior an idea that comes to mind. Recently in local headlines, this is exactly what was to be read. Four middle school aged children were caught with over twenty bags of drugs. It seems as if all families are in need of some personal time to reinstill love and values. Thorns to the bad publicity for today's middle schools.
