Run for the Rainforest
The seventh Rainforest 10K Fun Run was held in London's Regents Park on September 16 to aid the Rainforest Foundation. The aim was to raise a record sum of $85,000 to prevent 4,500 acres of rainforest from falling to logging companies.
The Rainforest Foundation works to protect the world's rainforest by enabling people living in and around them to fulfill their rights to land, life, and livelihood.
The key aim of the foundation's current campaigns is to protect one million square kilometers of forest, an area equal to the size of France, Ireland, and the United Kingdom combined. Over a fifteen year period, they have successfully saved over 115,000 square kilometers.
