Lebensraum

Presented on October 27 at Newnan High was Lebensraum, a play that centered around issues of the Holocaust. The play was written by Israel Horovitz and was a one-act play. Lebensraum was especially entertaining because there was a cast of six actors playing over forty different roles.

The cast, Ellen Dorrell, Jessica Hill, Galen Honea, Scears Lee IV, Sarah Beth Mosely, and Corey Thompson did an outstanding job performing the fictional play. In the Times Herald, Lebensraum was described as "a bold work of penetrating intelligence." The plot was based on the idea that a German chancellor might invite six million Jews to move back to Germany with the promise that they will receive jobs and citizenship as an act of redemption.

The play sent out a powerful message that suggests the possibility that history might end up repeating itself if humans do not pay attention and vow that history will not repeat itself.

Also, the company Lebensraum will be presenting a festival version of the play at the Region 4-AAAAA One-Act Play Competition. It will be held November 10 at Paulding County High School.
