The House Elf Myth
Have you ever wondered why Newnan's football stadium and sidewalks aren't covered in litter and filth the Monday after a game? You probably haven't. If you're like me, you probably have never given it a second thought; i've always taken for granted that Friday night upon leaving the game, the place was trashed and then come Monday morning the field is painted and the bleachers are spotless. Shockingly enough, the cleanliness is not the result of house elves hired by Dr. Moore who work in the dead of night to perfect the stadium. (I know, I always thought so, too.) The source of Newnan's clear sidewalks and empty stadium is a Friday night clean-up group put together by Mrs. Vickers, the librarian and SGA sponsor.
Participants in last week's clean up were Megan Byrom, McKensey Douglas, Daniella Galvan, Hannah Morris, Ashley Quesinberry, and Abbie Vickers. You have these students to thank for Newnan's current state of cleanliness. As you all know, the big Newnan versus East Coweta game is this Friday, and the clean up job is expected to be much bigger. Mrs. Vickers will need much more help from you guys to get the stadium spotless before the lights are turned off. If you need the enticement, Environmental Club, Key Club, Beta Club, and National Honor Society all offer community service hours for your time and hard work.
Show up this Friday, Cougars to give back a little bit to your school.
