Cross Country Cougars Clinch Berth
Both the Newnan boys and girls Cross Country teams clinched state meet berths with second place finishes at the Region Championships.
The boys were led by Jonathan Ballantyne who finished in a personal record time of 16 minutes 30 seconds and third place overall. Ballantyne challenged two of the state's top runners, Chapel Hills' Wade Voyles and Chance Eldredge.
Katie Davis and Sandy Gamino helped lead the girls to a solid second place finish as well. Davis finished fifth in a time of 20:44, surpassing Gamino's sixth place time of 21:01. Also scoring for Newnan were Kate Lawrence, Ashley Quesinberry, and Cessily Skinner.
The Cougars will participate in the State Meet on Saturday, November 7 at Carrollton High School.
