Cougars Pound Pebblebrook

The Newnan Cougar football team defeated the Pebblebrook Falcons 26 - 0 at Pebblebrook last Friday, October 23. The Cougars fought through the rain and mud to get the eighth win of their season and remain undefeated.

After a slow start and a scoreless first quarter, Newnan's offense picked up the pace and scored only 54 seconds into the second quarter. Quarterback Lendell Arnold ran 63 yards for his fifth rushing touchdown of the season. The next score came from a Nick Hill run after a Pebblebrook fumble. The final score for the Cougars came on a 71 yard, 7 play drive to open the second half when Hill scored on a short run again.

The Newnan defense had its fifth shutout of the season. Pebblebrook never crossed the 50 in the second and third quarters and only went as far as the Newnan 36. Newnan caused the Pebblebrook offense to turnover four times and capitalized by scoring after two of the turnovers. Trevor Tanner scooped up a loose ball and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown.

The Cougars resume play Friday, October 30, at home against Mundy's Mill.
