Daylight Saving Time

It's almost time to change your clocks again. Everyone knows the saying "Fall back in the fall." Our times will change on November 4th this year.

In the fall, clocks fall back form 1:59 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Daylight Saving Time is the convention of changing clocks so that afternoons have more daylight and mornings have less. Modern Daylight Saving Time was first proposed in 1907 by William Willet. It saw the first widespread use in 1916 as a wartime measure for conserving coal.

There are advantages and disadvantages of DST. Some advantages are retailing, sports, cuts down traffic fatalities and saves electricity. Problems come in agricultural issues and other occupations in which hours depend on the sun. DST also complicates time keeping and can disrupt meetings, travel, billing, record keeping, medical equipment, and heavy equipment.
