Newnan High Students' Messages on Drinking and Driving
Drunk driving is bad. Everybody knows it...so why do people do it? I think that it is stupid to drink in the first place. Why try to have fun with something that's going to hurt your body and give you a really big headache the next day?
If I was a drunk driver, I would definitely learn that the cons definitely outweigh the pros. You get sent to jail, you could have killed someone, you don't get to see your family. I would not want to live with the knowledge that I caused an injury or even a death!
I think that is is stupid for people to drink and drive. Especially, if they know what they are risking losing their lives, or causing others to loose their lives.
I would never drink and drive. I would rather call someone and ask them to come and pick me up or I would call a cab or have a designated driver.
Drinking and driving is a choice many people make, unfortunately it's a wrong one. We all take the classes at school on why we shouldn't drink and do drugs, but sadly enough, if people want to drink and party and to smoke and do drugs, they are going to do it. Yes, it can be fun and a good time, but if you choose to get behind the wheel of a car you are taking one of the biggest risks you could possibly take. There is a chance that you could harm the safety and lives of yourself or someone else.
If you make it safely, than more than likely it means that you will think "ok, well I made it out ok this time, I'll be ok next time too." If you got in a wreck and took the life of an innocent person, you will live with that hurt in your heart that you killed another human being just like you, one who has a family and friends who love them, every second of every minute of every single day for the rest of your life. Your family will have to live with the fact that the one they love took away another person's pride and joy forever and they will never get them back. A few hours of drinking and having a load of fun, isn't worth the thousands of hours you will spend being miserable if you mess up just once and DRINK AND DRIVE.
Drinking and Driving is a terrible decision. It risks so many important things. You could lose your life in a second and miss all the fun. Or you could take someone else's life from them and make them miss out on everything life has to offer them.
The consequences of someone drinking and driving are horrible, too. In a split second a loved one could be taken from you or you might take someone else's loved one from them. The pain of losing a love one is so intense it is almost unbearable. Going to prison for years is also bad, because you will miss out on having a family or watching your kids grow up.
Drinking and driving is one of the leading causes of death among teens. One or more accidents/deaths, from drinking and driving, occurs every 30 minutes. So many teens like to drink to "have a good time" and then they try to drive home. I just wish there was some way to make them understand the consequences and that it's not worth it.
A lot of people think that it can't happen to them. The truth is, it can happen to anyone. It not only takes lives every thirty minutes, it affects and ruins lives as well. It hurts when families lose a daughter, son or dear friend all because of a drunk driver. It also hurts to know that you were the drunk driver!
I really don't have much to say about drinking and driving. I will say that I know for sure that I will never drink and drive. Why.....because it is not my personality to drink and have a good time. You don't need alcohol to have a good time, but most people believe that they have to. People who do drink and drive are stupid! They should know there is a possibility they could kill someone.
I think drinking and driving is the stupidest thing a person can do. If you are going to go out drinking you should designate a safe driver to take you home. Whenever I start driving I know that I will not try to stay out late or drive drunk. Even if I did stay out late I would take back roads and be aware of my surroundings.
I think that the sentence for drinking and driving should not be any more than 20 years. If they are in prison for the rest of their life then they can't go out and teach others not to drink and drive...showing them the consequences. Also, I think those convicted of drinking and driving, whether they killed someone or not, should have to put a large sticker that sticks out on their windshield so other drivers can be aware!!
I think that drinking and driving is a dumb idea. First of all under age drinking is illegal and that's how most people die is because of underage drinkers. Secondly, you're endangering yourself. Why would you want to do that???
People that let you get in you car and drive off are not responsible. It's just poor judgment on your part if you drink and drive. SO DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!
Drinking and driving is crazy...it's for punks. I don't drink and drive. It is stupid. You think I'm going to kill myself, or someone else, just trying to look cool??? That would be the last thing I do.
I don't drink and never will drink...that stuff makes you stupid. I have a life!!!
Drinking and driving is one of the dumbest things to do. People that do it are very stupid and they don't think anything could happen to them. If they think that it can't happen to them, then they need to step into reality .....anything can happen to you. You can die in a crash. Crashes are caused by drinking and driving.
I would never drink and drive. If I knew my friends were drinking I wouldn't let them drive. It's not worth it! You can lose your best friends, family and brothers and sisters for nothing at all. Just for a thrill. If you lose you life because of drinking and driving, then you just threw your life away. It's not fair to everyone else when a drunk driver kills someone you love. Don't do it!! You will have to live with the guilt.
