*PARENT INFO*

 

The Georgia Parent Survey is an important part of the SCHOOL CLIMATE STAR RATING program. Parents, teachers, students and staff are asked to participate in various surveys to develop the Star Rating.  Parents, you may complete the survey using your personal computer, smartphones or tablet. If you do not have access to the Internet, Computers/ Chromebooks will be available in the Northgate Main Office and Attendance for your convenience. Your survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.

*GUIDANCE/SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION*

 

  • Senior Students and Parents:

Have you completed the FAFSA? (The FAFSA provides grants, loans, and work-study funds for college or career school.) If your family has not completed the FAFSA, please come to Northgate January 19th 6-8 pm room #217 for help from a Georgia Student Finance Commission representative. Parents, you will need to bring your 2015 tax return information and social security numbers for parent and student.

 

  • Attention Seniors!  New scholarships arriving daily! Check the NGHS Scholarships under the Guidance Dept link on the website - www.cowetaschools.org/nghs or stop by the Career Center to check the Scholarship Drawer.  Coweta-Fayette EMC Scholarship deadlines are Feb 1st!!

 

  • Upcoming College and Military Visits

Thursday, January 19th - Southern Union Visit - Main Cafeteria all lunches

Friday, January 20th - Gordon State visit - Guidance Lab all lunches-waiving application fee and accepting qualified applicants on the spot.

Monday, January 23rd - Columbus State visit - Main cafeteria all lunches

 

  • Rising juniors and seniors interested in the veterinary profession- UGA's VetCAMP will house up to 52 high school students on UGA’s campus for seven days. During the program, students will be involved in various activities aimed at evaluating their skills and competitiveness as future veterinarians, providing mentorship and helping them experience veterinary medicine as an exciting career path.  The application is due January 27, 2017 and can be found online at http://vet.uga.edu/academic/vetcamp.

 

  • The Black College Expo is coming to Atlanta on February 4, 2017.  More information and registration information is available at www.thecollegeexpo.org

 


*CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS*

 

  • English Dept. - Any student wishing to participate in the 2017 Oratorical Contest can pick up information from Mrs. Barber in room #128.

 

  • AFJROTC - AFJROTC Cadets that were in ROTC during the first term and interested in going to the Military Ball must purchase their tickets by the 20th of Jan.  See LTCOL Dorsey or MSGT Wolfe if you have questions.

 

  • Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica - The Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica will meet briefly on Tues., Jan. 21st at 3:35pm in room #108 to have our Yearbook picture taken.

 

  • French Club - French Club members, we are having a winter party on Tues., Jan. 24th.  Please remember your items and we hope to see you there.

 

  • SAGE - club pictures will be Wed., Jan. 25th after school.  Bring your SAGE T-shirt and meet in Mr. Rew’s room.  Secret code is Pepperoni or Cheese.

 

  • Spanish Club - The next Spanish Club meeting will be on Thurs. Jan. 26th.  Members who wish to attend should RSVP with Ms. Colon (room #123) or Ms. Parrish (room #110) by Thurs., Jan. 19th.

 

  • Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition - If you are interested in submitting entries for the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition, please come by room #130 to pick up an application.  All applications are due by Tues., Jan. 31st. Applications may be picked up outside room #130.

  • International Club - Lunar New Year Celebration!  International Club members must RSVP in the Google Classroom & pay $5 to Mrs. Ortega by Tues., Jan. 31st.  Join us for Korean food and fun on Thurs., Feb. 2nd.

 


*OTHER*

 

  • Prom - Prom fees are now $85 and guest fees are $25.  Seniors who attended last year need to turn in the prom form.

 

  • Prom - Attention Seniors!  All prom forms and/or fees must be turned in by Wed., Mar. 15th to be included on the Prom King/Queen ballots.

 

  • Yearbooks - Purchase yearbooks online from Balfour

 

*SPORTS*

 

  • Track - Conditioning for track will begin on Wed., Feb. 1st.  All students interested in track this year need to see Coach Mo in the new gym prior to conditioning.
