Northgate Viking Code of the Week:  We serve as ambassadors to the school community.




  • 9 Weeks Exams are Monday 1st & 3rd blocks and Tuesday 2nd & 4th blocks.  We ask that you limit check-outs to emergencies.


  • Winter Break starts Wednesday, December 20th.  Students return to school on Thursday, January 4th to start 2nd Semester.


  • Georgia Parent Survey - Please complete the Georgia Parent Survey by clicking on the link.


The Georgia Parent Survey is an important part of the SCHOOL CLIMATE STAR RATING program. Parents, teachers, students and staff are asked to participate in various surveys to develop the Star Rating.  Parents, you may complete the survey using your personal computer, smartphones or tablet. If you do not have access to the Internet, Computers/ Chromebooks will be available in the Northgate Main Office and Attendance for your convenience. Your survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.

  • The Newnan Chapter #483 Order of Eastern Star is sponsoring an essay contest.  Students grades 9-12 may write a short essay on their dream related to Commitment, Education, and Service, consisting of 100 words or less. The essays will be judged by retired educators in our community.  Three awards will be presented to the best-written essays.  All essays are due by December 15, 2017.  Completed essays should be mailed to:

  • 14th Annual U. S. Air Force Academy Candidate Orientation Program will be held Saturday, December 16th, 2017, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 at the American Legion Post 160* 160 Legion Drive SE Smyrna, GA 30080

  • The Georgia Tech Women in Engineering Program is holding its annual Students Exploring Engineering (SEE) event for female freshmen and sophomores in high school on Thursday, January 25, 2018, from 8:45 AM to 4:00 PM in the Georgia Tech Student Center Ballroom.

  • 2018 Honda Battle of the Bands HBCU College Fair registration is now open. It will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center January 27th from 10 AM - 2 PM.  Registration is open to all middle school, high school students that are interested in attending a Historically Black College or University.   • Senior Class - Senior information about ordering cap and gown and important dates can be found in the senior page of the school website.


  • Senior Class - All seniors who have paid dues by Fri., Dec. 15th are invited to the Senior Dinner on Thurs., Jan. 4th.  Dues may be paid online @ Balfour.com or during all lunches on Fri., Dec. 15th.  Please RSVP for Senior Dinner to Mrs. Barber by Fri., Dec. 15th. +


  • Balfour - Balfour will be on campus for Graduation Announcement and Cap & Gown orders on the following dates during all lunches:

Thurs., Jan. 18th     Fri., Jan. 19th     Wed., Feb. 14th

The Cap and Gown graduation fee is $100.  There will be a late fee on Caps and Gowns after

Wed., Feb. 14th.  Cap and Gown, Graduation announcements and accessories, may also be ordered online at www.BalfourCentral.com.




  • Art Department - The Northgate Fall Art show will be in the Media Center this week.  Stop by and vote for your favorite piece for the “Vikings’ Choice” award.


  • Chorus - Dessert Theatre has been rescheduled for Fri., Dec., 15th, 7:30pm in the NGHS Cafeteria!  Tickets are $5.  Come and enjoy refreshments and an evening of holiday songs sung by chorus students!


  • Writing Club - Writing Club final meeting of the semester will be Fri., Dec. 15th from 3:35 - 4:30pm in room #130.


  • Anime Club - The last Anime Club meeting for this semester will be on Fri., Dec. 15th after school in room #746.


  • Northgate Academic Bowl - Fudge-raiser, will be held Fri., Dec. 15th.  Purchase your choice of 13 different flavors of homemade fudge in Room #402.  Proceeds will benefit the Academic Bowl Team.




  • Prom - Last Call!  The deadline for $75 prom fees is Tues., Dec. 19th.  Submit all forms & fees to Mrs. Nelson (room #222) or Mrs. Ratliff (room #106).
