Text Box: Dear Parents,
Spring is here, and with it comes a rush of activities at Northside. Please make sure you take a moment to mark your calendar for the items you will find on this page.
One of the big activities that happens in the spring is that the students in the first through fifth grades take the Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT). Please read the information below for more information about this test.
Our music teacher, Mrs. Joan Nelms, has received a grant from the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation for over $4,000 of musical equipment for our music program. The grant allowed us to receive 1 alto metallophone, 1 bass metallophone, 1 bass zylophone, 5 bass bars, and 2 alto glockenspiels. The donation of these Orff instruments will allow all of the students in our music classes to actively participate in learning, creating, and fully developing their musical potential. We are very proud for Mrs. Nelms and our music program! You will notice some of our 4th grade students playing the new instruments on the front of this newsletter.
We have recently installed 6 new Promethean ACTIVboards at Northside! These boards have been purchased with funds from the Sally Foster Sale and donations from our Northside Business Partners. Please take a moment to look over the list of our Partners on page 3 of this newsletter. We appreciate the efforts that everyone took this fall to sell the Sally Foster items and the generous donations from our Partners. You are welcome to come visit our classrooms to see the new boards in action! Be warned, though...you might end up in an active game of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?”!
As always, we appreciate all of your support. We know that Northside has the best students and parents in the county!!!
				Sincerely,
                                                          Dana Ballou
