ITBS (8th grade students only)

The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is a
norm-referenced test that will assess
students’ academic achievement thus far in
his/her school career. Information regarding
how the performance of Georgia students
compares with that of students in a national
sample will be obtained and utilized in
planning instructional programs.
8th
Grade Technology Test
December 7, 2009
The 8th Grade Technology Test is mandated by
No Child Left Behind. It is a brief
written assessment of the students'
knowledge of modern technology. It
will be given during December before
December 12
MGWA (8th grade students)
January 20, 2010
The Middle Grades Writing Assessment
consists of an evaluation of the student’s
response to an assigned writing prompt.
CRCT (6th, 7th, and 8th grade students)
April 19-23, 2010
The Criterion Referenced Competency Test
includes items in the following content
areas: Reading, English/Language Arts,
Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.
These tests are based on the
Georgia Performance Standards. The CRCT
is designed to measure the knowledge and
skills taught in Georgia classrooms and
assess how well students have learned a
specific curriculum.
Eighth grade
students must earn a score within a certain
range on the
Reading
and Math portions of the
CRCT in order to be promoted to 9th grade.
Students whose scores fall beneath the
minimum score will not be promoted.
