response to an assigned writing prompt.
CRCT (6th, 7th, and 8th grade students)
The Criterion Referenced Competency Test
includes items in the following content
areas: Reading, English/Language Arts,
Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.
These tests are based on the State’s Quality
Core Curriculum and for the academic areas
that have implemented them, the
Georgia Performance Standards. The CRCT
is designed to measure the knowledge and
skills taught in Georgia classrooms and
assess how well students have learned a
specific curriculum.
Changes have been made in the promotion
requirements for 8th graders. Eighth grade
students must earn a score within a certain
range on the
Reading
and Math portions of the
CRCT in order to be promoted to 9th grade.
Students whose scores fall beneath the
minimum score will not be promoted.
