About Madras

|
 |
Madras Middle School is a suburban public
middle school. Our school opened in 1999
with an enrollment of 732 students in grades
six, seven, and eight. The 2008-2009 school
year opened with an enrollment of close to
1000 students as Coweta County continues to
experience rapid growth. Most of our
students are transported to school by our
school system buses. Madras Middle School is
housed in a 110,878 square foot brick
building composed of three grade level
halls, connections wing, special education
classrooms, gymnasium with band and chorus
facilities, cafeteria, and office areas.
Carolyn Roberts, principal, was responsible
for opening the school in 1998. She also
served as principal for Northgate Middle
School which was housed
in the same building with Northgate High
School. When Madras Middle School was
completed, Northgate Middle School was
disbanded. Madras Middle School was one of
the first schools in the state of Georgia to
be paid for entirely from SPLOST funds.
Madras has maintained a reputation for
excellence in education as a part of the
Coweta County School System. Students have
consistently performed well on standardized
tests and demonstrate high standards in
academics.
