Attendance |
 |
Attendance will be a focus of the
administration, staff and faculty of Madras
Middle School during the 2007-2008 school
year. We will work together with
parents to encourage attendance for every
student.
Attendance is essential for learning!
Per recent changes in Georgia law concerning
the school attendance, changes have been
made in Coweta County School System
attendance policy.
In middle and high school, days absent are
calculated by the number of missed periods.
Students are considered having been absent 5
days after they have missed 35 class periods
whether those periods occurred when the
student missed the entire day of school or
missed only some periods on several days.
The Five Day letter is generated when
students have been counted absent in 35
classes.
There is no point during the school day at
which a student can be checked out and will
be counted present for the periods missed.
Students are considered tardy for school if
they are not in their homeroom by the 8:20
bell.
