MMS Chorus - Sweepstakes Winner at
Southern Star Competition at Six
Flags
The MMS Chorus won top honors in the
Southern Star Music Competition in
April. They were presented
with a coveted Sweepstakes trophy
that is only awarded when the judges
feel that a performance is
exemplary. |
Talent Show Winner and Assembly
Performer!
Nicholas Emory was the overall
winner of the 2008 MMS Talent Show
held in February at the CPVA
and also sang for the students and
faculty during the Black History
Month assemblies held on February
28. For the assembly, he chose to
sing "You Are the Sunshine of My
Life!" |

MMS Students Selected for Art
Show
Lauren Hovey, Galina Rosas, and Cody
Ford are participating in the West
Georgia Young Artist's Exhibition.
Their artwork was chosen and will on
display at the university from March
3 through March 28. The
student artists were honored at a
reception on Sunday, March 3 and
received certificates.
Galina Rosas (on the right in the

MMS Students Take Middle School
Titles in Contest
Vivien Kibble and Nick Anderson
represented MMS in the Newnan chapter's
Optimist Club Oratorical Contest held on
February 26 at the Asa Powell Expo Center.
They competed against students from all area
middle schools giving a 4 to 5 minute speech
on the topic "Why Me? Why Not?" A girl and a
boy are chosen each year to move up to Zone
competition against the winners of other
Optimist Clubs' contests. This year,
both middle school winners are MMS students!

MMS Collects for Ferst Foundation for
Literacy Coin Drive
Announcement from Mrs. Johnson - Madras
Middle School is the first middle school
recipient of the first place trophy for the
Ferst Foundation for Literacy Coin Drive!
Thanks to all students and staff members who
contributed. We raised a total of $325.19,
more than any other middle school, and all
thirty schools in Coweta County raised a
total of over $4,000. Everyone is invited to
see our trophy, located in the front office.

Cole Weaver - Super Speller!
Cole Weaver is the winner of the
2008 MMS Spelling Bee. He
competed in the CCSS Spelling Bee
and took third place which makes him
a alternate for the regional
spelling bee. Way to S-P-E-L-L,
Cole! |
Dustin Dye Wins Essay Contest
Tim Higgins, Chairman of the Coweta County
Commissioners, presented a plaque and a
certificate to Dustin Dye, a seventh grader
at MMS, on December 13, 2007. Dusting
won an essay contest that was open to all
CCSS middle school students. The
subject of the essays was "How People Can
Conserve Water at Home"
