While I am a new teacher on staff at Moreland this year, I have been a part of the Moreland family for the last 4 years. I graduated from West Georgia in 1992 with a BS.ed in Middle Grades and in 2008 with a M.ed in Middle Grades Math. I taught middle school math in Maryland for 5 years. We then moved back to Georgia in 1998, and I taught 6th grade science and language arts in Fulton County for 2 years. In 2000, after the birth of my first daughter, Grace, I temporarily left public education to be a stay at home mom, but I did work two mornings a week at our church preschool. My second daughter, Sara, was born in 2002. I worked as a TA at Moreland in 2007-08 and then taught 5th grade math and language arts at Atkinson Elementary in 2008-09. I also teach Sunday School at my church, Newnan Presbyterian, and volunteer as an advisor to my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta. I have been married to Phil for 15 years and we have 2 girls. Grace is in 3rd grade and Sara is in 2nd grade here at Moreland. I am excited to be back at Moreland as the Explorations teacher where I get to work with 1st - 4th graders on developing their math skills. |
