I was born in
Saltville, Virginia and lived in the small town of Chilhowie, Virginia through
my school years. My high school days revolved around club and concert and
marching band activities which included being a majorette. After
graduating from Chilhowie High School, I enrolled at East Tennessee State
University where I earned my degree in Elementary Education and met my future
husband, Mitch.
After
graduation, we moved to LaGrange, Georgia where my teaching career began in
1980. I taught 4th grade for three years before the birth of my daughter,
Elizabeth, and then we moved to Newnan due to my husband's coaching at Newnan
High. For the past 23 years, I've always had a 4th grade homeroom, but
have taught 4th, 5th and 6th graders in Coweta County.
Education has
always been an important aspect in my family's lives. My husband is now a
retired educator and coach. My daughter is an honor graduate of Newnan
High and Oglethorpe University and continues to live in Atlanta.
I have been
very fortunate to be an educator in the Moreland community and call Moreland
Elementary "home" for the past 20 years. |
