I grew up in Rome, Georgia and attended the
University Georgia. While there I worked at the faculty day care center
helping students with their homework. That experience helped me realize
that working with children was what I wanted as a career. After graduation
I began teaching in Bremen, GA. where our Assistant Principal, Leigh Munson ,
attended. Yes, Mrs. Munson was one of my students for a short time.
Now, I'm working for her!
I left Breman, GA. and moved to Newnan in 1976, where I lived for the past 30
years. My husband, Bob, is the Principal at Lee Middle School and we have
raised three children. Thomas is 26, a former Navy Petty Officer.
His wife, Jocelyn, is serving in Iraq with her Medical Unit. Rachel is a
recent graduate of Clemson University, and is working in Chattanooga. Lee
is a student at Ga. Southern in Statesboro, majoring in Special Education.
This is my 31st year of teaching. Having spent the last 21 years at
Moreland has been a wonderful blessing for me and my family. I enjoy the
experiences of teaching children of former students. Being one of the "old
timers" brings the realization that with the upcoming renovation I will have
been here through three renovations. At least the building is older than I
am!
Riding horses has been a life long love of mine and I also enjoy traveling, and
painting pottery in ceramics. One of my most important jobs outside the
classroom is being a CASA (CourtAppointed Special Advocate for foster children). |
