Welcome to Moreland Elementary!
Happy New Year!
I would like to start with one sentence that will make you feel warm and smile at the same time. We are over half way until summer time! Yes, the 100th day of school will be celebrated next Friday! Our students have worked very hard. Let’s encourage our Moreland Wildcats to continue to buckle down and finish strong.
The 2013-14 Georgia College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores were released December 17, 2014 and our Moreland scores prove that our students, staff and parents are definitely finishing strong. The Coweta County School System outperformed the state of Georgia in scores. Coweta County Elementary average score on CCRPI was 73.6 compared to Georgia’s state average of 72.6. Even better news, Moreland Elementary CCRPI score was 80.8! Congratulations Wildcats!
As Spring rolls around, upper grade students (3rd-5th) will be taking the new state assessment, Georgia Milestones. This new assessment will be comprised of multiple choice and constructive response questions. Constructive response questions are basically questions requiring students to explain/describe/list/compare/summarize their answers in writing. The state is also gradually phasing in the online version of the Milestone assessment. This spring, some of our students will be given the opportunity to take the assessment online. The state’s goal is for all Coweta students to take the online version within 5 years. If you have any questions about the Milestone, please call myself or Dei Gross at 770-254-2875.
Continue to work hard and have warm thoughts!
Proud to be Your Principal,
