Activ
Boards
Our first two Activ boards (electronic whiteboards) were installed in October in Mrs.
Bassett's 3rd grade and Mrs. Edward's 4th grade classrooms. Thanks to our PTO for their
financial commitment to this project. One of our technology priorities is
to make these boards available in all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms in the
next three years. Each board costs approximately $6000. and we'll need 10
units ($60,000) to make this a reality.
Activ Boards integrate the latest technologies to make
learning fun. In addition to surround sound and large screen presentation
ability, students use interactive lessons and hand-held answering
devices to make assessments immediate. This tools creates a stimulating
classroom environment that appeals to more tech savvy students.

Curriculum
and Testing - Our instructional team is committed to student success.
As we approach the mid-year point, all teachers continue to work with your
students to ensure that they are mastering the Georgia Performance Standards
that drive our curriculum.
In April, all students in grades 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will take the CRCT. The
CRCT must be administered to all students April 16 - 20. As per
Georgia Law, all 3rd graders must post a passing score in reading/language arts
to meet AYP* and promotion requirements. All 5th graders must pass
reading, language and mathematics to meet promotion requirements. A
passing score of 800 is required for reading/language. A passing score of
300 is required for mathematics. (*AYP, Annual Yearly Progress is a
federal mandate that sets minimal achievement requirements for all
schools.)
Beginning mid-January, we will provide additional extended support to all 3rd,
4th and 5th graders who are deemed at-risk in reading, language arts or
math. Parents will receive information from the school administration
about the scheduling of these extended support claims.
