Dear Student Supporters;
Mrs. Olivia and I are excited to be your student's teacher this year. We know how important this school year is to your student's education and we are committed to work hard with your support to make their Kindergarten year a success.
You students will be receiving a homework packet every Monday. This can be completed at your convenience through the school week and is due on Friday. This packet allows you to see what learning is taking place at school and to give additional help if needed for a student to master that skill. The main point of the homework packet is for your student to spend time with you discussing school and learning.
We will also be sending home a Friday folder each Friday. This folder contains all the work and assignments from the school week. Please sign the envelope and return it to school EMTPY on Monday. These papers are great indicators of the work we see at school and will also allow you to see the kind of effort and expectations we have for the homework assignments. We will also be sending a newsletter home weekly in this envelope to let you know about the week to come.
Please see the attached link about our classroom Management Procedure. Although it is important to follow the rules, we also want to reward our students for excellent behavior and effort. One way we do this is by allowing students to earn being "star student." Each time Mrs. Olivia and Mrs. Amoson see your students doing something great, they will be allowed to add one star to the star graph in our room. The student with the most stars at the end of the week will be named star student. The star student is our classroom line leader, they also take their nap in the loft, and they also get to do other special tasks that are asked of them because they have proven that they are great examples for other students to follow. The stars start over each week, giving each students an equal chance to be star student.
After the first week of school, we do ask for parents and siblings to NOT enter the classroom or school building when dropping off or picking up their students. This allows the teachers to focus on the students and the students will in turn get settled into school easier. If you need to relay a message, please write it in your child's agenda, as we read them almost every morning.
If you ever have any questions of concern, please feel free to contact me at school or at home. I will not be able to take phone calls during teaching times, but you can always leave me a message. During the school day, I am able to check my emails often and it is a great way to get in touch with me!
