Policies and Procedures

Agendas- These are sent home everyday and serve as a forum for communication between the teacher and the parents.  Please look at them daily and sign.  The agendas also contain permission slips, newsletters, daily behavior reports, and other important information that you need to know.  If is also a great place to write your teacher a note.

Friday Folders- These folders are sent home every Friday.  They should be returned empty on Monday with a parent signature on the outside that indicates that you have seen the activities that they enjoyed and what they learned by doing them.

Attendance- Your child is expected to attend school everyday, unless they are sick or special circumstances arise.  Because so much of the learning in Kindergarten takes place in hands-on activities, it is unable to to made up.  If your child needs to be absent, please send a note with the reason why to school in their agenda on the day that return to school.  School starts at 8:00 and ends at 2:30.  Please make sure you drop your child off in plenty of time in the morning to get settled in!!!

Transportation- Please inform the school in writing of any transportation changes, even if it is just one day.  If no notification is received, then we must send your child home the way they normally go.

Lunch Money/Ice Cream Money- Any money send in to school should be send in an envelope with your child's name on it, the teacher's name and that they money is for.  For example, John Doe, Mrs. Amoson's Kindergarten, ice cream money.  Money can be sent in for lunch, ice cream, field trips, book orders, fundraisers, or book fairs.  Lunch costs $1.75, breakfast is $0.80, milk is $0.40, and ice cream $0.75 daily.  We encourage ice cream money to be a special reward for achievements and good behavior.

Specials- Our class will attend specials every morning.  Mondays we attend Music, Tuesday is computer lab, Wednesday and Thursdays is PE, and we have a rotation on Fridays.  You will get the newsletter with the rotation schedule in it for which special we attend on Friday.  Please dress your student in proper PE clothing, especially sneakers on those days we attend PE.  For females, please allow them to wear shorts under their dresses or skirts.  Failure to dress correctly will mean your student will not be allowed to participate in PE for that day.

Medications- If your student need to take any medication during the school day, please take it to the nurse.  All medication needs to come with a note that has dispending directions.  It will not be kept in the classroom.

Snacks- We ask for parents to help provide snacks for all our students daily.  Every child in the class will be given a snack daily.  Please send in snacks for our whole class to enjoy with your student whenever you get a chance.

Naps- We start the school year off by allowing students to take a 30 minute nap after lunch daily.  It is shortened and taken away before Christmas Break.  Please send in a clean bath towel on Mondays.  It will be returned on Fridays to be cleaned again.  We ask that no beach towels, pillows, stuffed animals, or other toys to be brought in.

Change of Clothes- Please bring in a change of clothes in a bag marked with your child's name on it to school as soon as possible, including underwear and socks.  We will keep it in the room just in case of a bathroom accident, mud/water from the playground, or other occurrences.  If those clothes are used, you will get the soiled clothes returned in the bag and they will ear the stored pair.  We ask that you return an additional change of clothes the next day to be stored again.  This is a big help so that we don't have to call you to bring in a change of clothes if something happens!
