Behavior Policy

Our classroom behavior will be tracked using the "stop light". Each child is given the opportunity to succeed by beginning every day on GREEN. The progression will be from green to yellow to orange to red. Each day, your child will carry the daily notebook to and from school. Inside will be the agenda. The agenda will be used as the daily communication for your child’s behavior.

Check the day’s date for the color they were on. There will be a frog stamped on the page and the frog will be colored showing their color for the day.

Please initial beside the frog to let me know that you have seen the agenda.

Return the notebook to school each day.

Returning this notebook daily will be one step in building responsibility in your first grader. Your child will be held accountable each morning for returning the notebook with the agenda signed. If the agenda is not signed or the notebook not returned, your child will move his or her clip to yellow. Although no points will be lost from their conduct grade, they will have "Think Time" during recess.

Good behavior and responsibility are extremely important in our classroom. We can have lots of fun while learning but only if we all work together and do what is best for the group. The less time we spend taking care of disruptions, the more time we have to learn and enjoy school.

Rules

Follow directions the first time.

While learning in a group, raise your hand to speak. We do not interrupt others because what they have to say is important to us.

Listen to the teacher and classmates when they speak. We always show respect for others.

Be kind to others and their things. Treat them how you want to be treated.

Consequences

One reminder will be given when a rule is broken. The child has the chance to correct the behavior.

1st warning- pin moved to yellow, 1 point will be taken off of their conduct grade and they have 5 minutes of "Think Time" during recess.

2nd warning- pin moved to orange, 2 points will be taken off and they have 10 minutes of "Think Time".

3rd warning- pin moved to red, 3 points will be taken off and they will have "Think Time" for the entire recess time.

o 1st time on red: note home

o 2nd time on red: phone call home.

o 3rd time on red: office visit.
