Moreland Elementary has been named a Title I
Distinguished School by the Georgia Department of Education. We are
proud of our student performance and credit our fine teachers and
staff as we continually focus on providing an instructional program
of the highest quality. Our 2008 State Annual Yearly Progress
Report reflects that (95%) percent of our students in grades 3-5 met
or exceeded expectations in reading and 89.5% met or exceeded
expectations in math.
New Affidavits Due by December 18, 2008
To meet requirements of a court order affecting Coweta County,
all parents or guardians are required to complete a new affidavit of
residency and two forms of address verification from the following:
a. property tax records which indicate the location of the
residence.
b. mortgage documents or a security deed indicating the location of
the residence
c. apartment or home lease or rent receipt indicating the current
address
d. a current utility bill for electricity or utility application
for electricity showing the current address
e. voter precinct identification card or other voter documentation
indicating the current address.
A letter from the Superintendent, Blake Bass
and an Affidavit of Residence form has been sent home with each
student. Parent/Guardians must complete the form in the presence of
a notary public. MORELAND SCHOOL OFFICE STAFF ARE ALL NOTARIES AND
WILL PROVIDE THIS SERVICE FOR YOU.
Please deliver the notarized Affidavit of
Residence and two address verification items from the list above to
your child’s school by Thursday, December 18, 2008.

For the 2nd consecutive
year, Moreland first grade teachers
have successfully written and
received an educational grant from
Target stores. Last years grant was
titled “Leap Into Learning” and
awarded in the amount of $2500.00.
The grant purchased Leapster
educational electronic games for
each classroom. This year’s grant,
titled “Read With Me”, is in the
amount of $3000.00. The proceeds
from the grant will be used to
purchase quality children’s books
and related activities be used as a
home-school connection. It is the
desire of the first grade teachers
to instill a life-long love of
reading in all of their students.
