Welcome to Lee Middle School
Dear Parents & Students,
On behalf of the staff and administration, I want to welcome you to another year of educational opportunity at The Lee Middle School, The School of Champions™. The 2017-2018 academic year will be an exciting one for our students. As the principal at The Lee Middle School, I look forward to watching your child grow and experience success throughout his or her middle school years. Whether you are a new member of the LEE family or a veteran family member, please allow me to take this opportunity to welcome you and provide you with some general information below.
The school will be open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Students may be dropped off at the front of the school no earlier than 7:30 a.m. and should report to the gymnasium. Homeroom begins at 8:00 a.m. and students are considered tardy to school if they are not in homeroom by 8:20 a.m. Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m.
Students who are car riders to school should be dropped off at the front of the school, and bus riders should plan to be at the bus stop early during the first week of school. Parents or students who need information about which bus to ride or where bus stops are located should contact the Transportation Office at 770-254-2820. We encourage those students who are going to be bus riders to ride the bus on the first day to and from school.
Meals are available for purchase at school beginning Friday, August 4, 2017. Breakfast costs $1.00 per day and lunch costs $3.00 per day. This may be paid daily in the lunch line, weekly, monthly, or annually through the student’s school lunch account. All accounts must be paid in full at the end of each month. Bottled water will be sold a la carte in addition to regular school lunch.
Orientation will be held for students and parents on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 10 a.m. – Noon. This is a time to locate your homeroom class and familiarize yourself with the school campus. (No teacher conferences will be held during this time, it is simply an important opportunity to come and learn more about the campus.) Please plan to arrive and visit during orientation hours only. Staff members will be in grade level, team, and department meetings before and after orientation. If you are unable to attend orientation, your student will receive applicable information during the first day of school. Personnel from the transportation department will be available during orientation as well as members of our Parent Teacher Committee (PTC). We Are LEE t-shirts and hoodies will also be sold to those interested in making a purchase at that time.
A special note to parents of 6th grade students: ALL 6th grade students must have a current, up-to-date Georgia certificate 3231 showing they have had two Varicella (chickenpox) vaccinations or proof of immunity (by blood test) or proof of disease (the year of chickenpox illness) and two mumps vaccinations. Please make sure that our school receives the proper documentation if you have not done so already.
A special note to parents of 7th grade students: ALL 7th grade students must have a current, up-to-date Georgia certificate 3231 showing that they have had the additional dose of Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria, Pertussis) vaccine and one Meningococcal conjugate vaccination. Please make sure that our school receives the proper documentation if you have not done so already.
We look forward to seeing your middle-schooler bright and early August 4th.
