Lady Wolves Claim 2012 CCMSAL Cup Title

     The Lee Lady Timberwolves  captured the 2012 Coweta County Middle School Athletic League’s Cup Championship in dramatic fashion with a 2-1 overtime win over the Madras Lady Eagles on December 13 at Garland Shoemake Memorial Stadium on the campus at East Coweta High School.  The Lady Wolves tied the title game with 3:25 remaining in the match at 1-1.  In the overtime Lee scored 5 penalty kicks while Madras had 3 to determine the outcome.  Keeper Bailey Swindell’s save of two of the Eagles’ kicks in overtime proved to be the difference.  Lee defeated the Arnall Lady Knights 3-0 to advance to the championship while Madras downed the Smokey Road Lady Wildcats 5-0 in the semi-finals.  Both Lee and Madras were the CCMSAL Regular Season Co-Champions with a 8-1-1 record each.  This was Lee’s third Cup Championship and fifth trip to the finals in the seven years of the program under Coach Becky Bush.  The team has a 57-20-6 record over that time span.
     This year’s championship team was comprised of Alexis Garcia, Anna Painter, Bailey Swindell, Brenda Mae Hall, Caitlin Wheeler, Caroline Nelson, Celena Taylor, Chandler Hendrix, Chloe Fuqua, Ellie Korner, Gabby Lotter, Graci Belle Guimond, JoCee Barrett, Kylie Doster, Laura Walick, Laura Anders, Nyah Gumbs, and Riley Padgett.  Team leaders in statistics for the season included goalie Padgett with 35 saves while Taylor and Swindell led in scoring with nine and eight goals, respectively.  This year’s team scored 47 goals while allowing eight goals to be scored against them.
