Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at Glanton Elementary, a Title I Distinguished School. We are the Glanton Gators on the Track to Success, proudly proclaiming that we have made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) each year since opening in 2004. This achievement is possible through the hard work of our teachers, parents, and community.

Glanton teacher and staff goals include instilling a sense of community and citizenship within each child in preparation for their role in a global economy. Lessons are designed to engage students quickly so that real world connections can be made within the learning activities. Most classrooms have Promethean Boards which embrace and enhance the exact way that students learn in the 21st century, according to research. Technology is a key component in the instructional method at Glanton.

Utilizing the vast pool of resources our parents have to offer is another goal. This helps to strengthen and support the link between home and school. Our volunteer program is designed to help both teachers and students by offering a wide array of services including tutoring and administrative support. Please consider giving some of your valuable time to help the future citizens of our world.

Glanton Elementary belongs to all citizens of Grantville and we welcome you to come by for a visit! My door is always open.

We anticipate a rewarding and exciting year ahead of us. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the year.

Katie Garrett, Principal
