Welcome to
Elm Street!
I am excited about helping your child connect the pieces of their learning so
that they can see the big picture for their lives. Each student is unique and
all bring rich diversity to our school through their experiences. Elm Street has
always worked hard with parents and community to create seamless learning
experiences for our students. Please feel free to drop by my office to share
concerns or just to say hi!
I will tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in West Virginia. I
have deep roots in Georgia, though, because my mother is from Atlanta. I
graduated from the University of Georgia and moved to Atlanta, where I met my
husband, Tom.
We lived in Alpharetta, GA, before moving to Newnan in 1991.
After moving to Newnan, I continued my education at the University of West
Georgia and received my Masters in Early Childhood Education, as well as an
Educational Leadership Add-on. I am currently working toward my Specialist in
Educational Leadership with Stamford University and will complete that program
in 2008. I have taught every grade (K-5) except kindergarten and can honestly
say that I love each one. I was the first administrator at Maggie Brown Pre-K
School when it opened in 2001 and that was a rewarding experience.
I have a wonderfully supportive family. My husband, Tom, and I have been married
for 27 years. We have three great children. Matt, 26, is a UGA graduate and
lives in Atlanta. Seth, 24, is a UGA graduate and lives in Birmingham, AL.
Rachel, 21, is a senior at UGA and will graduate in May 2008. Our family
wouldn’t be complete without mentioning our three pets: Oscar the Golden
Retriever, Sparky the Mutt, and Tangerine the cat.
I am very proud to be in my third year as Assistant Principal at Elm Street. The
faculty and staff work very well together and it is the best school ever!
