Mrs. Jo Nase
Instructional Technology Teacher, K-5
Elm Street Elementary
|

My name is
Josette Nase. Most people outside of my family call me
Jo. And only those in my family are allowed to call me Joey or
"Joey Bug". I was born on December 28, way back in the
1970's
in Memphis,Tennessee, where I lived until I moved to Newnan in
1999.

I am
married to Andrew Nase who teaches fifth grade at
Elm Street. Mr. Nase and I have a special place in
our hearts for Elm Street because Elm Street is where we
met. We have a son named Caleb. He is 5
years old. When he was younger, most people said that he
looked just like his daddy, but as he gets older, I
think he is becoming a good combination of both of us!

Aren't my guys adorable?! |

Caleb
loves trains. This is a picture of Caleb
and myself inside a real train! |

The
other members of our family include a black lab named
Pickles, and a brown and black striped cat named Harold,
named after Harold the Helicopter from Thomas the Tank
Engine. For fun, we all enjoy traveling, going to
the park, or reading books together as a family. |

I graduated
from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee with a B.S.
in Learning Foundations (Elementary Education). In 2005, I
acquired my gifted endorsement and I am currently working on earning
my Masters in Media. In February of 2007, I was
initiated into Alpha Delta Kappa, a National
Organization for Educators. In my ten years of
teaching I have taught preschool, fifth grade, kindergarten
and first grade. I have
been teaching at Elm Street since 1999 and was named Elm
Street's 2007 Teacher of the Year-what a great honor!
This is my second year as the Instructional Technology teacher.
I have always enjoyed using technology in my classrooms and I am
excited that I get to share technology with all of Elm Street's
students. |

Little did I know that one day I would be a Kindergarten
teacher. |

I enjoy
making pocketbooks and diaper bags. I have made over 250
pocketbooks in the last 2 years! Sewing is a great,
relaxing hobby for me. |
My special hobbies
include sewing, journaling, scrapbooking, writing children's books-one's that I use in
my classroom and hope to one day have published,
and decorating around the house. Some things I collect are playing cards from
different places I visit and, although Mr. Nase grits his teeth at this one, ladybug items. In fact, we have a special room-well
a bathroom, in our house
decorated in ladybug stuff that has been given to me or that I have collected
over the years. You may even see a few ladybugs flying around the Technology
Lab.J My favorite color is purple, my favorite foods are pasta and
potatoes (I'm a carb fan), and my favorite animals are
cats. |

I very much enjoy
teaching because of the tremendous growth both academically and physically that
I get to witness over the course of a year. I like to teach the way I
would want my teacher to teach me if I were back in elementary school. I
get excited when my students get excited about a lesson, and I think we feed off
of each other's enthusiasm. I believe that we should never stop learning,
which is why I am currently in graduate school working towards my Masters in
Media. I hope to pass on what I learn to my students. Yet, it always
amazes me how much they already know about technology and sometimes I learn
something new from them! I am thankful that I get a
chance to work with all of the students at Elm Street and look forward to
teaching and learning from them new and exciting things about technology.
