Ms. Duenckel's Reading class will be looking at some
high interest stories following CRCT week. Students will be presenting a
book report during the week of May 5. We will finish out the year with a
unit on fairy tales and folk tales. Students need to be reading to
achieve their AR goals for this last 9 weeks.

Social Studies
All students have been assigned a project to report
on a national monument or memorial. Each received a package of
information and received instruction and suggestions pertaining to this
project. Mrs. Nase will begin this week in specials time having students
research their topic. Then students will need to use morning, class, and
home time to complete these projects. Due date is May 5.
In the coming final weeks, I will fulfill the request of the students to cover some additional information on the Holocaust. I will focus on survivors and some of the miracles surrounding their surviving those horrible times. We will learn about a project conducted by a small town in Tennessee that helps us visualize the numbers of victims of this atrocity. Our focus will further take us into discussion as to what our part can be in promoting tolerance in our community, nation, and world. To close out the year, we will look at the U.S. involvement in world events since 1975. Our focus will be on the U.S. as a world leader, but also as a world player in events. Again, discussion will hopefully steer students into thinking about how we truly are a global society.
