Science In science class, we have begun discussing the science fair. Students have received a packet of information to help them in their project. Please ensure that your child gets started right away and does not wait too late to begin. This is probably the biggest project in your child's school career thus far. I am excited to see what students accomplish! The completed science projects are due April 16. I will have small "progress" assignments due along the way so that students to not get behind and so that I can monitor their progress. The first assignment related to the science fair is due January 22. Students should turn in their topic and question at this time. A form has been given for them to complete.
We continue our SAFE program on Mondays. This is a great program conducted by the sheriff's office by Officer Michelle Murray that teaches students how to stay away from drugs and violence as well as Internet safety. We are continuing our life science unit this week. We have focused on cells, cell parts, and their functions. This week we will focus on how cells specialize in a multi-celled organism. We will learn how cells become tissue, tissue becomes organs, and organs become organ systems or body systems.
