·        The University of Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute (G.T.I.P.I.) has developed a statewide program called Georgia Teens Ride with P.R.I.D.E. (Parents Reducing Incidents of Driver Error).  The program offers Parent/Teen Driver Education classes for Coweta County residents.  These classes target parents/guardians and their teenage drivers who are either just beginning to drive or are preparing for a learner’s permit.  The course is FREE.  This is not a hands-on, mechanical “how-to” course, but a class that addresses driving attitude and behavior of teenagers ages 14-16.  This course will:

o       Help parents/guardians become more aware of their own driving behaviors;

o       Teach parents/guardians how to help their teenagers become safe drivers;

o       Help parents/guardians and teenagers learn what they need to do during the supervised practice driving time required to obtain a license; and

o       Alter attitudes and driving behaviors of novice teenage drivers.

“Georgia Teens Ride with P.R.I.D.E.”

(Parents Reducing Incidents of Driver Error)

Course Outline

Part I: “Teen Drivers & Motor Vehicle Crashes”

Part II: “Understanding the Licensing Process and

Georgia’s Teen Driving Laws”

Part III: “Coaching Your New Driver” (for parents)

OR

“Getting the Keys to the Wheels and Keeping Them”

(for teenage drivers)

Part IV: “Agreement to Ride with P.R.I.D.E.”

Is your teenager’s life worth two hours of your time?

Register today!

(registration form attached)

Note: This is a FREE, two-hour course designed to help parents and their new teen drivers, ages 14-16, learn what they need to do during the 40 hours of supervised practice driving time. (Twenty hours of supervised practice driving time is required if the teen successfully completes driver education.) This is a program that addresses driver attitude, knowledge, and behavior, rather than a technical hands-on driver-training course. While completion of this course may reduce insurance rates, it does not count toward the required 40 hours of supervised driving practice.
