The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts
will host the Mithril instrumental group for a “Celtic
Christmas” concert this Saturday, December 8th, at 8pm.
Mithril – featuring musicians Andra Bohnet, Tom Morley, Ben
Harper, and David Hughes – perform their all-instrumental show
on a wide variety of traditional instruments, including Irish
flute, whistle, fife, Celtic harp, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin,
guitar, bodhran (Irish frame drum), and harmonium. |

|
Hailing from Nova Scotia, Mithril’s unique progressive style has
its roots in the traditional Celtic music of Ireland and
Scotland, but moves far beyond that, weaving such diverse
influences as American folk, classical, and Middle Eastern
melodies into their full tapestry of sound. Playing with the
precision of their classical training and the enthusiasm that
springs from their love of the music, Mithril will provide
concertgoers a holiday spirit with such selections as The
Gooding Carol, Merry Christmas Jig, and God Rest Ye Merry
Gentlemen.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and senior
citizens, and are on sale at Scott's Bookstore on the Square in
downtown Newnan, Morgan's Jewelers at Ashley Park and the Centre
on Lower Fayetteville Road.
All proceeds from the performance will go the the Stepaniak Arts
in Education Fund of the Coweta Community Foundation, which
supports the strings program of the Coweta County School System.
