Coweta County students will end the first
semester and let out for Christmas and New Year’s break on
Tuesday, December 18. Students will return to school on
Thursday, January 3.
In addition to finishing their first-semester school work,
students have held several special activities since
Thanksgiving.
On Saturday, December 8, The Parent-Teacher Organization at
Thomas Crossroads Elementary School hosted a well-attended
“Breakfast with Santa,” complete, of course, with a visit from
Santa himself.
St. Nick was provided ably by James “Buster” Clark, of the
Coweta County School’s operations department. Parents and
children streamed in to the school’s cafeteria throughout the
morning to whisper Christmas wishes in his ear.
Santa has made his way to many other schools across Coweta
County, and students have held special concerts and activities
to mark the holidays.
This year’s school calendar is a little different from that of
previous years. Tuesday, December 18 will be the last day of
school (and will not be a half-day, as in previous years).
Teachers will hold a work-day at school on December 19, and the
schools will be closed from December 20 through January 1 for
the holidays. Staff returns on January 2, and the first day of
school for the new semester will be Thursday, December 3.
Students will also be out on January 21 to observe Martin Luther
King’s Birthday, and will be out for the full week around
Presidents Day, February 18-22.

Thomas Crossroads Elementary School students had a visit from
Santa Claus on Saturday, December 8 (Santa is a good friend of
Coweta County School System employee Buster Clark, by the way.)
Above, Santa listens to the Christmas wishes of Thomas
Crossroads students Grant Klone (1st grader) and Garrett Klone
(3rd grader). |
